Week 7 Wikis

Welcome to wikipedia the free encyclopedia that anyone can edit... well I feel that information in an encyclopedia is accurate but if anyone can add to or edit wikis then how accurate are they?
I saw that in the Princeton Public Library index of reviews there were 57 reviews for Contempory fiction but only 1 for westerns, understandable I thought, but then I noticed that there was only 2 reviews for romances which are very popular at this library ... not worth reviewing? or so popular they dont need reviewing?

Hi,
I am one of the librarians at Princeton Public that was involved with the BookLovers wiki. The content of our wiki is reflection of our community -- we do not get much demand for westerns or romances as a rule of thumb and (in fact) non-fiction books are very popular.
The wiki was set up with passwords and given to those in the summer reading club. We no longer maintain or add to the wiki. It was done as an experiment and as a way for us to teach about wikis to our community. We now allow reviews and comments in our catalog so the wiki will always stand as a "snapshot in time". It was a worthwhile experience and we would have done it again had we not upgraded our catlog.
Hope this helps.
